Author Guidelines

The Vertex Journal of Economic Sciences (VJES) welcomes original, high-quality research articles that contribute meaningfully to economic scholarship and policy discourse. To ensure consistency, transparency, and international academic standards, authors must adhere strictly to the following submission guidelines.

1. General Submission Requirements

• Manuscripts must follow the latest edition of the APA Style Manual.
• Preferred word count: 3,000–4,000 words, inclusive of abstract, tables, figures, and references.
• Submissions must be in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). Files in PDF or other formats will not be accepted.

2. Manuscript Structure and Formatting

Title

• Provide a clear, informative title (and subtitle if applicable) in Times New Roman, 14 pt, bold, with title case capitalization.

Author Details

• Include the full name, institutional affiliation (with postal address), and email address of each author.
• All authors must provide a valid ORCID iD (Register here).

3. Abstract and Keywords

• Structured abstract of 150–200 words summarizing purpose, methodology, findings, and implications.
• Five to six keywords relevant to the paper.

Authors may also submit a structured abstract (max 300 words) under:

• Purpose/Aims
• Methodology/Approach
• Key Findings
• Conclusions and Policy Implications
• Keywords

4. Main Text Formatting

• Font: Times New Roman, size 12 pt, justified alignment
• Line spacing: Double-spaced throughout
• Paragraphs: First-line indent of 0.5 inch (1.27 cm)
• Numbered headings and subheadings (1, 1.1, 1.1.1)
• No excessive formatting, decorations, or colored elements

5. References

• Use APA (7th edition) citation style.
• Start on a new page with the heading References (centered, bold).
• Use hanging indents (0.5 inch) for entries.
• Ensure every in-text citation matches the reference list.

6. Tables, Figures, and Charts

• Number consecutively (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1) with clear titles.
• Include them in-text or at the end, referenced appropriately.
• Use editable formats (Word tables, Excel graphs) instead of images.
• Cite data sources where relevant.

7. Pagination and In-text Citations

• Page numbers at top-right corner.
• Follow APA in-text citation style.
• Quotations:
  • Under 40 words: double quotation marks in-text.
  • 40+ words: block quote, indented 0.5 inch, no quotation marks.

8. Language and Usage

• Use formal academic English, following British spelling (e.g., labour, organisation).
• Maintain consistent tone and grammar.
• Authors are encouraged to have their work proofread.

9. Plagiarism and Originality

• Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and free from plagiarism.
• A plagiarism report (Turnitin/Urkund/other) must be submitted.
• Authors must include this declaration:

“I confirm that this manuscript is my original work, has not been published elsewhere, and is free from plagiarism. I have acknowledged all sources appropriately.”

10. Peer Review and Editorial Policy

• All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review.
• The editorial board may accept, reject, or request revisions.
• Authors will be notified within a reasonable timeframe.

11. Research Ethics and Inclusivity

• Evaluated solely on scholarly merit, regardless of authors’ identity or views.
• Adheres to international standards of research ethics and neutrality.

12. Author Biographical Note

• Short bio (max 100 words) for each author including:
  • Full name and current designation
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Research interests and selected publications
  • Email address

13. Submission Checklist

• Microsoft Word manuscript
• Abstract + 5–6 keywords
• ORCID iD(s) for all authors
• APA-formatted reference list
• Plagiarism report
• Signed originality and ethics declaration
• Author biographical note
• Completed submission form (if applicable)
